Kitchen Series - Kitchen Exhaust Fans

Kitchen Series - Kitchen Exhaust Fans

Exhaust System

Kitchen exhaust fans are a crucial component of any kitchen remodeling project. Well manufactured kitchen fans clear smoke and smells from the kitchen easily and quickly, besides enhancing the overall appearance of the setup. They could either be mounted over a kitchen island or a flush.

Commercial kitchen fans are extensively used for domestic use. They are quieter than conventional home models and are highly efficient in pulling stinky, smoky air out of the room. They are vented to the roof for safety purposes.

House wide fans function like a central vacuum cleaner. They contain motorized fan for the entire house, which sucks out air from suction duct. It is great for those who fry a lot.

Variety And Features

Kitchen fans are manufactured in different sizes, with lesser or greater air circulation ability. Those using these types of fans with range hood require a BTU rating of the range. Many fans contain range hoods inbuilt into them. They are mounted under cabinets, over a kitchen island or on the wall.

They match kitchen decor perfectly, irrespective of whether you go for a rustic country kitchen or a modern, all-stainless steel look. Wall mounted and under-cabinet exhaust fans also contain built-in lights.

Exhaust fans offer basic ventilation and works best in avoiding odors and moisture. They also prevent and solve issues of mold and mildew. Central exhaust fans are often installed in basements, crawl spaces and attics with the duct work leading to kitchens, bathrooms and other areas.

Benefits

Kitchen fans are cheap, reliable and very useful and extend the role of simpler systems. They are designed to respond to the specific kitchen requirements and also accommodate grease and oils associated with kitchen area well.

Exhaust fans with energy star ratings are optimized to save energy costs. Always prefer quieter models.

Subaru WRX - Cobb Tuning TurboBack Exhaust

Exhaust System

The Cobb Tuning Turbo Back Exhaust for the WRX is designed to be everything you need in a performance exhaust. This system offers a completely, true engineered system, that offers optimal performance, and durability without a loud and obnoxious exhaust note. This is a direct bolt-on system for your 2002-2010 Subaru WRX and 2004-2010 STi. The Cobb turbo-back exhaust comes with a Cobb Downpipe with a high flow catalytic converter and a Cobb Stainless Steel Catback exhaust.

This Unit is constructed from 304 Stainless Steel, and features a cast stainless steel bellmouth to mandrel bent 3" piping, a state-of-the-art metallic substrate catalytic converter, a low restriction straight-through muffler that tucks up nicely under the car. It then ends in a tasteful but not overstated 3.5" double wall tip, and featuring an etched COBB logo. The Cobb turbo-back exhaust comes in two versions; the street version, and a race version. The difference between the to are that street version comes with a high-flow catalytic converter and the race version does not. This is a direct fit replacement to the stock exhaust unit. An estimate of 8-12 horsepower can be expected from the Turbo Back Exhaust, without the use of engine management, But is not recommended. Performance Mini Moto Parts

Performance Mini Moto Parts

Exhaust System

Ok, so starting with the larger performance mini moto parts. The largest part you could get for your mini moto is probably a big bore kit. This will increase the displacement of your mini moto and give you great power gains throughout the rev range. It is becoming cheaper and cheaper to buy these kits for your mini moto and they certainly give the greatest power gains for the money so these kits are highly recommended. However some mechanical knowledge may be required in order to fit one of these kits, it is basically putting a new engine in!

Once you've got a big bore kit for your mini moto, you can start with some of the smaller mods in order to get the most out of your mini moto engine. I would now purchase a performance mini moto exhaust. These are great and if you get a good one you will see noticeable power increases, especially mid range and top end on your mini moto. In some cases these exhausts alone can add up to 10mph to your mini motos top speed and increase acceleration dramatically. Exhausts can be purchased for under £50 in many places on line, but if you are looking for a top quality exhaust system which is going to benefit you the most then it may be worth looking into some slightly more expensive exhaust systems.

I would now go on to modify the carburettor and air intake on your mini moto, I find these very restrictive on most mini motos and if this area of the mini moto is modified correctly you wont be able to believe the power gains and feel of your mini moto. Get yourself an upgraded performance carburettor. Performance big bore carburettors (usually around 57mm) will let your engine breathe and really let it perform how it wants to. If you combine this with a performance air filter, upgraded jets and tune it all up correctly the performance increases will be amazing. Your mini moto will feel like a new bike which will rev freely and be a lot quicker than the standard bike.

Now you have added the larger performance mini moto parts it is time to fine tune your mini moto and get the last dribbles of performance out of your engine.

After adding the above modification I would definitely now go on to improve the ignition system, firstly by replacing the spark plug with a high performance spark plug. I would recommend NGK spark plugs, and also by changing the changing the spark plug cap to an NGK one. This will help to stop your mini moto ignition system begin burnt out by the extra power increases. It would also be a good idea to change the lead and coil in order to cope with the power gains.

Also it may be an idea to get an uprated chain, one which will be able to cope with the power increases you have put the bike through. The reason I say this is because I have experience of the weaker chains found on most Chinese mini motos snapping on numerous occasions as they are just not tough enough to cope.

There are many performance mini moto parts which can be added to do with the clutch and gearing of the mini moto, this will ensure that power is always delivered efficiently when you need it. Try adding a rocket key to your mini moto, this is a very cheap modification but will make the bikes timing noticeably better, improving the speed at which the bike pulls away and its acceleration through the low range.

One problem with Chinese mini motos especially is the clutches on these bikes are not up to hard use. You will find clutches burning out very often and power gains being significantly less as the clutch can not cope. This is why I would highly recommend buying a heavy duty performance clutch. You will find the power is delivered faster and smoother than with a standard clutch and you will not need to replace it half as many times.

If you are racing your mini moto, or want to get better acceleration rather than top end or vice versa then you need to change the gearing of the mini moto. This is done by changing to different sized sprockets on the back and front. A larger sprocket on the back or front will decrease acceleration but increase top speed, whereas a smaller sprocket on the back or the front will increase acceleration but you will suffer top end. Depending on how you want the mini moto to ride will affect the sprockets which are used on the bike.

Now you have made these changes to your mini moto you will feel an enormous increase in power, speed and pleasure of riding. Remember though to always ride on private land and to wear safety equipment.

Since the introduction of the dual mode exhaust on Corvettes back in 2006, owners have been doing this very simple mod to keep the NPP's butterfly valves open so they can enjoy that deep exhaust rumble all the time. Diagnosing Car Problems By The Color Of Your Exhaust Smoke

Diagnosing Car Problems By The Color Of Your Exhaust Smoke

Exhaust System

The color of your car's exhaust can tell you a lot about its health. The smoke's hue may suggest something is amiss inside your engine. It can also direct you to areas that may need immediate attention. For example, are you leaking coolant? Are you burning oil? These and other issues can be identified by noting what comes out of your car's tailpipe.

Unfortunately, most people lack familiarity with their vehicles. They don't know how to identify signs of a problem in their cars' exhaust. With this in mind, we'll explain exactly what black, white, and blue smoke imply. This article will provide the details you need to semi-diagnose engine-related issues that need to be resolved.

What Black Exhaust Means

If you notice black or charcoal colored smoke coming from your tailpipe, it implies the air-fuel mixture in your engine is rich. This means there is too much fuel in the combustion chamber, and it can't be burned entirely when the spark plug ignites the mix. This can happen if the fuel injectors are leaking, the fuel pump is malfunctioning, or the oxygen sensor is sending bad data to the powertrain control module (PCM).

Because a "too rich" air-fuel mixture will affect your engine's performance, have this issue resolved as quickly as possible. Of the three exhaust colors, however, black is the least serious. It is definitely less serious than white smoke.

What White Exhaust Means

First, let's make an important distinction. If you start your car, and notice a small bit of white vapor coming out of the tailpipe, the cause is likely condensation. This occurs when there is residual moisture in the exhaust system. Starting your engine heats the moisture and produces steam, which is blown out of the tailpipe. You'll notice it disappears after a few minutes spent driving.

White smoke coming from your tailpipe is different. This usually means coolant is somehow entering one or more of the combustion chambers, and is being burned along with the air-fuel mixture. This often happens when the head gasket develops a leak. This gasket sits between the cylinder head and engine block, and is supposed to prevent coolant from gaining access to the chambers.

At first, a little coolant in the engine may seem harmless. However, this means your car's cooling system is deprived of coolant due to the leak. This can eventually cause your engine to overheat, leading to expensive repairs. If you see white smoke, immediately check the coolant level. Replenish it, if necessary. Then, have a mechanic examine the head gasket, engine block, and cylinder head.

What Blue Exhaust Means

Blue smoke means oil is gaining access to the combustion chambers. Here, too, it is being burned with the air-fuel mixture, similar to coolant when it leaks past the head gasket. Oil can leak into the cylinders in several places. There are guides, valves, seals, and piston rings in your engine that normally prevent fluid from passing. All of them can wear down, however. When this happens, oil may be allowed through.

Sometimes, leaking oil can slowly foul the spark plugs, causing the cylinders to misfire. If this occurs, you'll need to replaced the fouled plugs. Even if the plugs remain unaffected, this problem can still deprive your engine's moving parts of oil for lubrication. Over time, this can lead to damage in the assembly. As with white exhaust, consider blue exhaust a priority that should be quickly addressed.

Many drivers put off needed repairs because the work involved is often inconvenient and expensive. But consider that postponing such work may lead to bigger - and more costly - problems down the road. Addressing known issues now is a worthwhile investment.

2011 Scion tC - High Speed Test Drive at New Hampshire Motor Speedway's Road Course

2011 Scion tC - High Speed Test Drive at New Hampshire Motor Speedway's Road Course On YouTube.

Akio Toyota challenged Toyota, Lexus, and Scion to make their vehicles more fun to drive. This is part of an internal initiative to add excitement back into each brand's product line and get back into making exciting products. While this may sound like lip service to some enthusiasts, a lot of what's done internally never sees the light of day, and for good reason; the car industry is extremely competitive. Even more so after the rough times that the industry has gone through in recent years. Industry segments, like the sports car segment, have gone through some pretty rough times as well. With a shrinking market for pure sports cars, comes practical cars like the all-new, second generation, Scion tC. The 2011 Scion tC is the first sporty car to be released after this initiative, and marks the start of a new era for Toyota, Scion, and Lexus. The Scion tC is a practical five passenger coupe that makes no compromises in safety. 8 airbags, traction control, vehicle stability control, ABS brakes, brake assist, and electronic brake force distribution? All for under k in a sporty compact coupe? What a steal! And at speed, I was amazed how the TRAC would actually simulate a limited-slip differential and keep the inside tire from spinning. In my past experiences with racing the first-gen tC, on slower corners the 2.4L had enough torque to break traction with the inside tire that is unweighted when cornering. And the fact that it has these systems means that it is a car that ...

This video is about catalytic converters and what causes these sophisticated components to fail. Any number of problems can damage a converter. And these issues must be corrected before installing a new one. There are four primary types of converter failures: poisoning, coated or oil-fouled substrate, overheated or melted, and structural damage. Learn more about these four types of failures and the common causes for these failures by watching this video. Bottom line, these components don't fail on their own -- an outside issue, often related to the ignition, fuel system, engine or engine controls, has caused the failure. On-Board Brake Stroke Monitoring System

On-Board Brake Stroke Monitoring System

Exhaust System

On-board brake stroke monitoring systems have been developed to communicate air braking issues in real time with the drivers, inspectors, or mechanical personnel. These systems are designed to inform the vehicle operator of a number of different issues that could potentially happen with an air braking system.

The most common braking system issues are due to over stroking, non-releasing, or inoperative pushrod travel issues. When these issues arise the truck brakes can either work at a lower than the necessary levels or become completely inoperable.

By installing an on-board stroke monitoring system driver will be alerted to these potential issues in real time as they happen. The cab of the truck will have a driver interface installed that is designed to light up LED lights when potential braking issues are discovered.

Since drivers are often unaware of existing brake defects and reduced braking capability, brake monitoring systems provide valuable information to let the driver know when brakes are out of adjustment or not working properly so that corrective measures can be taken to maintain the vehicle's safe operation.

The on-board brake stroke monitoring system is able to alert the driver to multiple safety issues regarding the braking system. Drivers could be alerted to worn, seized, or out of adjustment manual and automatic slack adjusters, slack adjusters that have not been installed properly, pushrods that have been cut too short, ruptured actuator diaphragms or leaking airlines, plugged or crimped airlines, frozen or stuck air valves, cracked or broken brake drums, brakes shoes that may be "hung-up" due to other faults in the foundation brake system or slack adjuster faults, push rods that have not retracted due to components binding, broken parking brake springs, and worn S-cams.

Rocket Motor Based on Rapid Fire Pellets Exploding in Long Exhaust Tubes

Rocket Motor Based on Rapid Fire Pellets Exploding in Long Exhaust Tubes

Exhaust System

Rocket Scientists are constantly looking for new more efficient and safer ways to fire rockets. Due to the problems that are posed when multi-staged rockets many nations, space programs and military's still to this day have a tough time launching satellites, staging rocket and missile demonstrations and putting equipment and people into orbit. Over the last many decades unbelievable numbers of catastrophes have taken place costs 100s millions, even billions of dollars in hardware and too many lives to even wish to talk about. This is a critical issue indeed.

Therefore, I propose a new type of rocket motor system that is based on the new rapid fire weapons systems where each projectile fired lights the one behind it causing it to fire. However, instead of bullet projectiles, I propose using small balls of fuel that are sucked into a Venturi Tube after firing and then once compressed by the pressure moving thru the tube they fire and explode.

This causes the rocket to accelerate. Since, each line of projectiles can be monitored and then started when ready the rocket's sensors can let out the exact amount of propellant projectiles needed for a perfect and safer acceleration, as needed. Since this system is safe it can also be used to launch hypersonic aircraft, space craft or satellites into orbit. Perhaps it can also be used for rocket assist as needed in some aerospace applications.

Since, these rapid fire weapons systems already exist, it is my estimation that the cost to test this scheme would be in the 10s of millions if not less and thus, it makes no sense not to try it and see what we come up with after the tests are concluded. Good luck in your mission to create the world's safest rocket motor and God's Speed to you and yours.

Steering Systems

Steering Systems

Exhaust System

Steering is the term applied to the collection of linkages, gears, and other things which all allow a vehicle to follow a desired course. The concept is similar for trucks and cars. The biggest difference between the steering system for an 18-wheeler is that it is much less responsive than a car and much more difficult.

Modern cars and trucks use rack and pinion steering mechanisms. In this type of system, the steering wheel turns the pinion gear. The pinion is responsible for moving the rack. The rack is a linear gear that meshes with the pinion, converting circular motion into linear motion along the transverse axis of the car (side to side motion). This motion applies steering torque to the kingpins of the steered wheels via tie rods and a short lever arm called the steering arm.

Rack and pinion design has the huge advantage of a large degree of feedback and direct steering "feel." In addition, it does not normally have any backlash or slack. The biggest disadvantage of this steering system is that the rack and pinion system is not adjustable. This means that when the steering system wears out and develop lash, the only way to fix it is completely replacing the system.

Older steering systems use the recirculating ball mechanism. This system is still found on trucks and utility vehicles. It is a variation of the even older worm and sector design. The steering column turns a large screw, or the "worm gear" which meshes with a sector of a gear. This causes it to rotate about its axis as the worm gear is turned. An arm is attached to the axis of the sector which moves the pitman arm. The pitman arm is connected to the steering linkage and steers the wheels.

The recirculating ball version of the apparatus reduces the considerable friction by placing large ball bearings between the teeth of the worm and those of the screw. The balls exit from between the two pieces into a channel internal to the box which connects them with the other end of the apparatus and so they are recirculated.

The recirculating ball mechanism has the distinct advantage of a much greater mechanical advantage. This made it present on larger, heavier vehicles. With the universal adoption of power steering, however, this is no longer as important. The recirculating ball design has a perceptible lash or "dead spot" on center. This means that when the wheel is centered, a minute turn of the steering wheel in either direction does not move the steering apparatus.

Marine Diesels From Air Filters to Exhaust Systems

Marine Diesels From Air Filters to Exhaust Systems

Exhaust System

Fuel by itself is of no use whatsoever: it needs oxygen from the air outside in order to burn. At the most basic level, this happens its own accord: as the piston falls during the induction stroke, air rushes in past the open inlet valve to fill the expanding space. Then, when the compression and power strokes are complete, the exhaust valve opens and the rising piston pushes the exhaust gas out ready for a fresh charge of clean air.

In practice, though, the engine needs an air filter to stop dirt, moisture and bits of rubbish being sucked into its cylinders, and needs an exhaust system to dispose of the hot exhaust gases safely and quietly. To save having a separate filter and exhaust pipe for each cylinder of a multi-cylinder engine the incoming air is fed to the cylinders through tubular structures called inlet manifolds, and the exhaust gases are carried away through similar structures called the exhaust manifolds.

Air filters

Unlike their cousins that power tractors and earth-moving machinery, marine diesels usually operate in a relatively clean environment: there's little danger of them having to contend with straw, dust or roadside litter. This means that their air filters can be relatively simple, so some engines operate perfectly well for years with little more than a metal box with a few baffles in it.

Most, however, have something a little more sophisticated, involving either wire gauze or porous paper.

Paper tends to restrict the air flow, so to make up for this its area has to be increased by being folded into a concertina shape. It's also difficult to clean, so once a paper filter becomes clogged it has to be replaced with a new one.

Wire gauze doesn't restrict the air flow as much, but it is less effective because the gaps between the strands of wire are bigger than those between the fibres of paper. To counter this problem - and to minimise corrosion - wire gauze filters need to be dipped in oil from time to time, so that dust sticks to them instead of passing straight through.

Exhaust systems

When it comes to exhaust systems, the boot is on the other foot: road vehicles and agricultural machinery have an easy time of it. Their engines are in compartments that are open to the atmosphere but sealed away from their drivers and passengers, so all that's required is a pipe connected to the exhaust manifold, with a few baffles to reduce the noise. A few marine installations adopt a similar 'dry' exhaust system, usually in the form of an exhaust pipe sticking straight up from the engine compartment, with a weighted flap to stop rain or spray running down inside and heat resistant lagging to minimise the risk of fire or burns.

For pleasure craft, though, wet exhaust systems are pretty well standard, with water from the engine's cooling system used to cool the exhaust gas. The water is mixed with the exhaust gas in the injection bend, where it almost immediately turns into steam but in doing so reduces the temperature of the exhaust gases from almost 500° C to about 70° C - cool enough to allow flexible tubing and GRP to be used for the rest of the exhaust system.

At that reduced temperature, the steam condenses back into water. That is why the mixing takes place in a bend: it protects the engine against the possibility of the cooling water running back through the system and into the cylinders.

If the engine is below the waterline, or very close to it, however, the injection bend alone is not enough: there's a danger that water already in the exhaust might set up a siphon effect that would allow sea water from outside to make its way back through the exhaust system and into the engine. To stop this, many boats have an extra loop in the exhaust system, known as a swan-neck. To guard against the possibility of waves pushing water up the exhaust pipe, some boats have a one-way flap covering the end of the pipe where it emerges from the hull; on some sailing yachts you may even find a hand-operated gate valve that seals the exhaust pipe completely when the engine is not being used.

The vital thing about any exhaust system that it must not restrict the flow of exhaust gases beyond a certain limit, because if exhaust can't get out of the cylinders, there will be no room for fresh air to get in. The effect is exactly the same as if the air filter were clogged: starved of oxygen, the engine will not be able to burn its fuel, so it will lose power and produce black smoke.

More power

Any engine is simply a device for converting the energy released from burning fuel into mechanical power. None of them are very good at it: well over 60 per cent of energy released from the fuel is expended as heat and vibration, rather than as use mechanical work. Engine designers are continually working to improve efficiency but the fact remains that the power an engine can produce will always be limited by the rate at which it can burn fuel.

Car Exhaust System

Car Exhaust System

Exhaust System

Every combustion process results in a waste product. This is also true when it comes to the fuel combustion process inside the engines of the cars. While most overlook the exhaust system of the car considering it to be the isolated pipe coming out from the back of a transportation vehicle, it has one of the most crucial jobs to perform to increase the performance and the life of one's vehicle. If the exhaust system of the car or any other vehicle is not working efficiently, it will cause damage to the engine and even more to the valuable lives in the car.

The chemical compositions of the gases that are expelled are harmful to the health of the humans hence, it is important to keep the exhaust systems of the vehicles working in an optimum condition. In most of the vehicles the manifold of the exhaust system is responsible for collecting the toxic fumes and channel them into tubing towards the back of the car. But over the years it has been proven that such a system for the exhaust system of the cars is very inefficient and hence new ways were sought as a solution to effective management of the exhausting process.

One of the best safety tips that should be kept in mind when traveling is to ensure that the windows are rolled down to a fraction of the distance so that it allows the air to be ventilated from the cabin of the car. The reason for this safety tip to be observed is that one of the deadliest waste gases that can be produced by the car combustion process is carbon monoxide, which is a colorless and an odorless gas. Thus, by ensuring that the windows are slightly opened the travellers can secure not only their own safety but, that of their loved ones as well.

For efficient exhausting of the car one can also opt for the headers. However, this option is usually preferred by those who do not have a limited budget as the headers can prove to be expensive and might have to be customized according to the needs of the car. The header helps in even and prompt exhaustion away from the engine with the help of its consistent pipes. Whichever exhaustion system one selects it is pertinent to get the exhaust system inspected on annual basis. One can perform this task themselves as well and look for any traces of corrosion, leakages, or any other type of damage and get the system repaired accordingly, to ensure the performance of their cars and the safety of their families.
